THE LOST VOICE

The Lost Voice is an Iraqi / Belgian artistic shortfilm by Bavi Yassin released in 2013.

The film is about Salma, an Iraqi singer who supported Saddam Hussein’s regime with her ‘propaganda’ songs. She decides to leave her former life behind hoping to find a quiet and peaceful future in Europe. In her mind she's still the beautiful diva she once was. When faced with a young Iraqi man in a Belgian refugee centre, Salma’s life is turned upside down. She is torn between the harsh reality of the refugee centre and the poetic images and thoughts of the desert that occupy her mind.
